Mt. Moiwa Ropeway

The Fascination of one of the“three finest night views” in Hokkaido

Ride to the summit in the world’s first mini-cable car, and on a ropeway. A popular restaurant with a fine view awaits! Enjoy nature about 20 min. from downtown Sapporo.

- From Sapporo Sta., take the Namboku Subway Line to Odori Sta. (about 2 min.), then walk to the Nishi-yon-chome streetcar stop and take the streetcar to the Ropeway-iriguchi streetcar stop (about 20 min.); then, take the shuttle bus to Moiwayama-sanroku Sta. (about 5 min.). From Moiwayama-sanroku Sta., ride the gondola lift to Moiwa-chufuku Sta. (about 5 min.), then transfer to the Mourisu Car, which goes to the summit of Mt. Moiwa (about 1 min. 40 sec.).
- About 5.6 km from the South Exit of Sapporo Sta., which is about a 25-min. drive. From Moiwayama-sanroku Sta., ride the gondola lift to Moiwa-chufuku Sta. (about 5 min.), then transfer to the Mourisu Car, which goes to the summit of Mt. Moiwa (about 1 min. 40 sec.). Hoheikyo Dam

The spectacular sight of a beautiful concrete arch dam and rough, bare rock

The dam is 102.5 m high. Seen from the electric bus, the landscape features Lake Jozan, whose reservoir holds enough water to fill Sapporo Dome 30 times, and rock outcrops.

National Park Resort Shikotsuko

Enjoy the hot springs and the natural splendor of Lake Shikotsu, whose waters are known for their great clarity.

Chitose Salmon Aquarium (freshwater aquarium)

Feel the vigor of salmon that are back after several years from their migration to the ocean.

This aquarium teaches about the ecosystem for salmon. In autumn, visitors can see salmon running up the Chitose River. Watch salmon being caught near the Indian waterwheel for hatching.

Takino Suzuran Hillside Park

The only park in Hokkaido that’s operated by the national government. This national park features seasonal flowers, nature and various activities.
